Dr. Amanda Smith began her career as a veterinarian in Dripping Springs. She warmly welcomed the opportunity to return home to Dripping Springs to practice her brand of family-centered care and high-quality medicine at Springs Veterinary Care! Dr. Smith has a special interest in dentistry, pain management, hospice care, and community outreach. She hopes to foster strong, long-lasting relationships with her patients and their loving families.

Dr. Smith’s goal is to make every patient’s experience at Springs Veterinary Care a positive experience. Feel free to stop by our hospital, conveniently located in the heart of Dripping Springs, during our open hours to say hello to Dr. Smith. She looks forward to meeting you and your pets!

Dr. Michelle Henthorne is a 2000 graduate of Texas A&M University, School of Veterinary Medicine. She grew up in Houston and has practiced medicine all across the country, from California to Florida. She is passionate about high quality patient care and communicating with her clients. She enjoys dermatology, dentistry, soft tissue surgery, and internal medicine.

When she’s not caring for her patients, she is busy with her family. Dr. Henthorne has two amazing kids who attend Dripping Springs schools and a loving husband. She also enjoys working out, being at the lake, and spending time with her own four legged family members.

Dr. Henthorne is excited to be practicing at Springs Veterinary Care and serving the Dripping Springs community.

Dr. Gretchen Carpenter is an Austin native, and attended Texas A&M University for her undergraduate studies and veterinary school. Since graduation, she has practiced in the Bee Cave and Lakeway area. Dr. Carpenter has special interests in dermatology, dentistry, cardiology, and orthopedics, and is a certified veterinary acupuncturist. She also has an affinity for schnauzers and scruffy dogs!

When not cuddling her patients, Dr. Carpenter enjoys water skiing, hiking, and spending time with her husband and kids.




As our office manager, Krista’s most important role is making sure that each client interaction, whether on the phone or in person, is a positive one. She enjoys meeting each new patient and makes getting to know their owners a priority. She is also dedicated to ensuring that Springs Veterinary Care keeps the highest standard of medicine.

She is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in Animal Science, and has a Masters in Education from Wright State University.

Krista is married to her best friend, has three grown children, and two dogs. She enjoys kayaking, hiking, gardening, photography, Ohio State Buckeye Football and traveling. She enjoys caring and loving on all the patients as Springs Veterinary Care's Hospital Manager.



Taylor is a veterinary technician that grew up in the Texas hill country most of her life, in and around animals, always knowing she wanted to work with them. She spent some time studying at Tarleton State University and currently lives in Johnson City, with her fiancé, three dogs, and a cat. She has always been in love with the field of veterinary medicine and strives for the best patient care.

Some of her hobbies include kayaking, walking backcountry roads, observing nature, and spending time with family. She is excited to help the animals of Dripping Springs.

Kaelynn is from Austin, Texas. She decided to pursue her lifelong dream of working with animals in 2019 and she is currently enrolled in Austin Community College studying veterinary technology.

Kaelynn likes camping, painting, listening to music and spend time with her family. She has two dogs, a Golden Retriever and a mini Aussie. Kaelynn is very excited to start her journey here at Springs Veterinary Care!

Aunna Detrick


Aunna is a veterinary technician from the Austin area who has two spoiled rotten cats that she loves dearly. She graduated from Texas State University with a Psychology degree, but realized her passion for veterinary medicine in 2017. She strives for the best patient and client care, ensuring all parties are comfortable and well taken care of.

Her hobbies are hiking, getting lost on backroads, and finding new places to explore. One day she hopes to be able to travel and explore different areas of our world.



Katelyn is a veterinary assistant with the Springs Vet Care family. She grew up all over the country, but has lived in Austin, Texas, the longest. Katelyn grew up with a lot of pets (big and small), loves animals, and is known for being a hard worker with a positive attitude. She is determined to learn and achieve goals everyday.

Katelyn is currently attending Dripping Springs High School and will be a senior in the fall of 2021. As a kid, her dream job was to become an actress, so when she's not working, Katelyn can be found either at the DSHS's auditorium for theatre or on the lake in the summer.



Sarah has grown up in Austin, Texas her whole life, complete with helping her mom take care of all their fur babies-dogs, cats, horses, goats, ducks, etc. She graduated from James Bowie High School in Austin in 2018 and has been completing her basic courses at Austin Community College. As a child, she always said she wanted to work at a vet, and now it’s really coming true!

In addition to school, Sarah pet sits for many families in Oak Hill. She's been a dog handler, dog photographer, and the general manager of a dog daycare, boarding, and grooming facility for three years.

Sarah is known for being punctual and challenging myself, being a hard worker and good listener, and always being willing to take on extra tasks to help alleviate any stress on her coworkers.

Outside of work, you can find her out at the lake with her family and some of her dogs, or find her wandering off and meeting other people's dogs. Sarah can also be found with her camera, and dressing up her Pomeranian, Ava, in an array of costumes and taking photos of her! She has won many awards for her photography-top portrait in Texas, honorable mention for her portfolio, and ILPC awards for different categories.

Jenna Koon


Jenna was born and raised in Denver, Colorado and moved to Buda, TX in mid 2020. She has always grown up with animals and has dreamed of working with them her whole life. She is so grateful for this opportunity to start her career at Springs Veterinary Care and is excited to see where it takes her.

Apart from being with animals Jenna loves to spend time with her family, sing at her church on the worship team, work out, play volleyball, and do anything active.



Abbigayl started at Springs Veterinary Care as an intern in 2019 and is now a certified veterinary assistant. She is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in animal science at Texas A&M University with plans to go on to vet school. Abbigayl can't wait to meet you and your furbabies!

Heather was born and raised on the coast of South Africa. She came to the States in 2008 temporarily, planning to go back and study further to someday be a Game Ranger. In 2009, she met her husband and has been living in the States ever since. Heather has lived in New York, Tennessee, Colorado and now Texas.

In Colorado, she was given the opportunity to get back on track with her dream of working with animals. Since September of 2018, Heather has client care specialist, training as a veterinary assistant.

Her favorite thing is spending time with her husband and two dogs. She also loves talking to family abroad on Skype when the time difference allows for it.

Heather enjoys hunting, fly fishing, oil and acrylic painting, photography and surfing.



Amber grew up in Pennsylvania, moved to Austin in 2013, and has lived in Dripping Springs for the past two years. After spending the last seven years as a Massage Therapist, Amber decided it was time to pursue a different career. Her passion and love for animals lead her to Springs Veterinary Care.

In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, traveling, woodworking, and visiting local breweries with her husband and fur baby Sydney, (who is named after one of our favorite hockey players). Amber is so excited to join the Springs Veterinary Care team.

Jennifer is a native Texan but has lived in Iowa, Colorado, Virginia and New Jersey. She attended Texas Tech University and University of Houston, but ended up obtaining a real estate license several years ago and has been working either as a Realtor or in a supportive role in the industry. Jennifer decided to make a complete career change and is thrilled to work every day with one of her passions-animals.

Jennifer and her husband moved from Houston to Dripping Springs in 2020 and have three grown children and seven fur babies! Outside of work, you can find her cycling, hiking, spending time with family, and exploring the Texas hill country.
