On October 13, 2018, Springs Veterinary Clinic hosted our first annual Springs Tails & Trails fun run to mark our first anniversary. The run took place at Founders Memorial Park in Dripping Springs, TX, and was followed by Drippin’ Dog Dip – a doggie swim in the Founders Memorial Park pool.

About 60 humans and 40 dogs attended the fun run, each of whom received a swag bag full of treats. Dogs were also entertained by an agility course, courtesy of Kate Smith, and a dog treat food truck, Bow Wow Bones. Participants were entered into a raffle, and five lucky winners received one of our amazing prizes: a year’s worth of Proheart, courtesy of Zoetis; a movie basket from Boehringer – Ingelheim; a cat basket from Royal Canin; a skin and dental health basket from Veoquinol; and, the grand prize, a 10×12 watercolor portrait from Dog Art by Mia.

The Tails & Trails fun run was a celebratory event, but it was also an event to encourage dog owners to get out and exercise with their pets. Regular exercise helps hip joints, reduces digestive problems, helps control behavioral problems, and keeps your pet at a healthy weight, which decreases the likelihood of developing other problems. Dr. Amanda Smith, lead veterinarian at Springs Veterinary Care, is a huge advocate of getting out and moving with your pet!

Lizzy’s Animal Hospice was onsite with adoptable dogs for runners to “borrow” as they completed the course, and in turn, Springs Veterinary Care raised funds to benefit both Lizzy’s Animal Hospice and PAWS Shelter of Central Texas. As of October 22, we have raised about $260 to benefit the shelters. We are still taking donations, and anyone who donates will receive a t-shirt or bandana. Come by Springs Veterinary Care at any time to make a donation!

“Tails and Trails and Drippin’ Dog Dip was a huge success!” said Dr. Smith. “It was so awesome to spend time with our human and fur friends. We cant wait until next year!”

Springs Veterinary Care would like to thank all of our amazing clients for helping us reach this amazing milestone!

“Our first year in business has been amazing!” said Dr. Smith. “We are so fortunate to serve the community of Dripping Springs. Our success is solely based on our friendships with caring, compassionate pet lovers. We look forward to another successful year of caring for the dogs and cats of the Hays county community.”
